| With the support of our benefactors and Sponsors we have been able to raise $110,000 of our $300,000 budget. In the past few years, it has been particularly difficult for small independent producers to get funding through public funding and private foundation sources. The competition is stiff and the funds extremely limited. The current interest by these organizations is in funding experimental and series programs rather than small individual historical projects such as this one. We have also been told by many of these funders that the story of the 65th "has limited appeal and is not of interest to the general American public." Many private corporations do not fund documentary projects. This is why we have decided to take a grassroots approach and appeal to our own community. And the response has been extremely supportive. We are currently aggressively fundraising to help us raise the funds to complete this program. We ask for your support to help us preserve our history!!

Matching Fund Program
- Please inquire if your employer has a matching contribution
program as your contribution will have double the impact! Some
companies have programs which encourage their employees to donate
to worthwhile charities and causes and, in return, the employer
will match and donate the amount donated by their employee.
DONATIONS CAN ALSO BE MADE USING THE LINK BELOW.
We are still interviewing 65th veterans
and their commanding officers. Although we have already completed
the bulk of our interview filming, we continue to conduct interviews
by telephone or mail in order to corroborate our research and
add previously unknown information. We also wish to hear from
65th veterans in order to expand our database of the most complete
listing of 65th veterans available in the United States and
Puerto Rico. So far we have approximately 200 veterans and commanding
officers listed. Please send us an e-mail, write or call us
with your name, address, phone number and e-mail address.
One of our most successful fundraising
efforts has been providing presentations on our project and
on the history of the 65th Infantry Regiment to interested organizations
in return for a donation and paid travel expenses. If you have
an organization or community group which would be interested
in having a presentation to your membership for a special event
such as Hispanic Heritage Month, Puerto Rican Discovery Day,
Veterans Day, Memorial Day, etc. or you just wish to support
this project, please contact us. We can customize the presentation
to meet your special needs and can incorporate short demo screenings
and photographic exhibits to make it visually exciting and informative.
All proceeds from these presentations go to the production of
the documentary.
We have conducted presentations for the
following organizations:
American Legion Post 872 (Reading, PA)
Arecibo Vet Center (Puerto Rico)
Boricua Agenda Summit (NJ)
Bronx Vet Center (NY)
Brooklyn College - Veterans Student Organization
Hispanic Professional Network (Hartford, CT)
International Puerto Rico Book Fair (PR)
Jersey City Puerto Rican Heritage Festival & Parade (NJ)
Korean War Veterans Association - Westchester County Chapter (NY)
Marine Corps League - Westchester County Chapter (NY)

We welcome non-monetary contributions.
We currently need a computer so that our helpers can transcribe
the filmed interviews and perform other administrative tasks.
We could also use a transcribing machine that uses the large
audiocassettes. If any of you have unused frequent flyer miles
that you wish to donate, it will help us with our travel expenses
to conduct research and film interviews.
We will be happy to provide a letter acknowledging
your non-cash contribution for income tax purposes.
We are always looking for volunteers who
are willing to devote their time or services to our project.
We have had volunteers organizing fundraisers, soliciting donations
by phone or in person, proofing interview transcripts, typing
transcripts, conducting historical and fundraising research
in research facilities, libraries or through the internet. Whether
you live locally in the Westchester County area or far away,
if you have the will to help, we'll think of a way in which
you can help. This website was designed through the volunteer
services of S. Karthik, a generous mechanical engineer living
in Chennai, India. How about that?
